Profile & Mission
In the occasion of celebrating the opening of the
hospital since 5 years ago, we are glad to offer this
brochure that contains what has been achieved from
development and approaches to the different
departments. The brochure is supplied with statistics,
figures, and pictures in addition to a brief summery
about the hospital and its capabilities and the modern
devices used.
The old Kasr El Einy hospital had been serving the
Faculty of Medicine for many years since 1837 until it
was pulled down and renewed in the early eighties. The
work process has started in the new building project
in the year 1984. It was equipped with all the most
advanced medical and engineering devices in servicing
both the medical and patient education. It is also
aimed at being a unique center for medial researches
over the Middle East region.
This huge project has
been established through a contract signed by the
Faulty of Cairo in the year 1984 with the French group
Consertoum which
consists from Sougia
company a contractor
for the engineering operations and Ebute de
france the
importing company for medical equipments, and
Set
Folkee company as
engineering consultant.
The actual work in the project has started in the year
1986 and lasted for 9 years. A certificate for handing
over the hospital was issued in November 1995 and the
project costs has reached 800 million French francs in
addition to 150 million Egyptian pounds.
Cairo University Management has supervised on the
project in all its phases through assigning a delegate
for the university as included in the contract and the
formation of 3 committees for supervising and
following up as follows: the engineering committee and
the financial, administration, and medical committee.
All members are recorded as the best Cairo university
professors covering different fields.
In assertion to the concern of Cairo University for
this huge project, and its high concern to let the new
El Kasr El Einy Teaching Hospital unique and
accessible without any obstacle, the university
council has agreed last December 1994 on the
independence of this project. It now becomes a unique
unit away free from any routine obligations and it can
offer medical and educational services with high
degree of capabilities.
